Linchpin is a duo consisting of pianist Joona Toivanen and percussionist Ebba Westerberg. Linchpin explores worlds of sound and rhythm. With prepared grand piano and varied percussion, they create music in the present, contemporary improvised chamber music. Linchpin mixes new writing and improvisation. The listener is invited to a winding, highly concentrated concert experience. Over the years, the members of the group have purely focused on duo work in Linchpin, while also being part of a number of other constellations. Joona Toivanen has been nominated for the prestigious Finnish Teosto Prize, and Ebba Westerberg is a frequently sought-after percussionist in various genres.
